Black Bears Fall to Eagles, 7-2

Chestnut Hill, Mass. – The University of Maine women's ice hockey team fell to Boston College by a score of 7-2 on Friday night. With the loss, the Black Bears fall to 2-9-1 (1-7-0 in WHEA) while the Eagles improve to 9-3-2 (6-3-1 in WHEA).
Brittany Dougherty (Chesterfield, Michigan) wasted little time, as she was able to get the Black Bears on the board just 5:34 into the first period. This was an unassisted goal for Maine.
The Eagles answered back at 17:36 of the first period. Alex Carpenter found the back of the net with Haley Skarupa and Kaliya Johnson picking up the assist on the scoring opportunity.
The first period would end with a 1-1 tie.
Katy Leary gave Boston College a 2-1 lead at 2:25 of the second period off the Taylor Wasylk assist. Skarupa would then push the Eagle lead to 3-1 as she took advantage of the power play opportunity at 11:13.
Jennifer More (Deloraine, Manitoba) would also take advantage of the Black Bear power play opportunity as she beat the Boston College goalie at 18:23. Kelly McDonald (Ancaster, Ontario) would notch the assist on the scoring play.
The second period would come to an end with a 3-2 Boston College lead.
The third period saw all Boston College action, as the Eagles were able to net the puck four different times. Taylor Waslyk unassisted at 1:31, Skarupa at 2:43 with Melissa Bizzari and Carpenter notching the assist, Skarupa again at 8:55 from Emily Pfalzer and Bizzari, and Blake Bolden on the power play opportunity at 13:52 from Skarupa.
The Black Bears started Brittany Ott (St. Clair Shores, Michigan) between the pipes as she allowed five goals against while adding 39 saves in 42:43 of action. Meghann Treacy (Lake Peekskill, New York) played the final 17:17 for the Black Bears, allowing two goals with seven saves. Ott sees her record fall to 2-4-1 on the season.
The Eagles Corinne Boyles got the start, allowing two goals with eight saves. Boyles sees her record improve to 7-1-0 on the season.
The Black Bears were 1-2 on power play opportunities while the Eagles went 2-5.
Maine returns to action tomorrow afternoon as they faceoff against the Boston College Eagles for game two action, puck is slated to drop at 2:00 PM. Maine will return home on December 8 and 9 as it hosts Dartmouth for out of conference action. The puck is scheduled to drop at 3:00 PM for both contests.
