
Swim Teams Honored by National Rankings

The University of Maine men's and women's swimming and diving teams both found themselves in the annual National Improvement Rankings put out by Avidasports for 2010-2011. Both managed to crack the national top ten lists as the women placed sixth and the men placed ninth.
Avidasports is a National Sports Information Tracking Agency who's mission is to "challenge athletes to perform their best" by offering a competitive training advantage utilized through measuring and syncing video, audio, and performance in real time and post training analysis.
Their latest release came in the form of their 2011 Team Performance and Improvement Rankings. Their Methodology for the Improvement Metric is a measure of each team's times compared to in-season best times. Essentially it acts as a tracker for year by year growth and performance.
The University of Maine tested out quite well in the Avidasports Improvement Metric as the Maine women finished the year tied for sixth nationally with a 103.7 percent jump in program growth while the Maine men finished the year with a ninth place finish and an improvement increase of 104.0 percent.
With numbers like those, it won't be long before Maine re-writes their record books completely as they rise back to America East prominance.
