Women's Ice Hockey Skates Past #7 Boston College 4-3

CHESTNUT HILL, MASS.-- Myriam Croussette (Baie-Comeau, Quebec) had a pair of goals, including the game-winner late in the third period, as the University of Maine women's ice hockey team downed seventh-ranked Boston College 4-3 on Saturday night at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Mass. Maine improves to 11-15-5 on the season and 5-11-3 in Hockey East play. Boston College falls to 19-6-5 overall and 12-4-3 in conference play.
Maine scored a goal off the opening face-off, just 20 seconds into the contest. Dominique Goutsis (Coquitlam, British Columbia) got the puck to Croussette, who beat Eagle goalie Molly Schaus.
Boston College tied the game at 1-1 at 3:29 when Kelli Stack found Danielle Welch at the top of the crease who beat Maine goalie Brittany Ott (St. Clair Shores, Mich.).
The two teams traded second period power play goals. Boston College took a 2-1 lead 1:57 into the second when Blake Bolden lit the lamp from Stack and Taylor Wasylk. Brittany Dougherty (Chesterfield, Mich.) answered back when scored notched her 13th goal of the season from Croussette at 6:06. Stack gave the Eagles the 3-2 lead after two periods with her 32nd goal of the season with just 25 second remaining in the second period.
Kristi King (Lake Elmo, Minn.) scored her second career goal just 1:25 into the third period to swing the momentum back to the Black Bears. Kelly MacDonald (Ancaster, Ontario) assisted on the goal.
Croussette scored the game-winner and second of the game at 14:24 of the third period to give the Black Bears the 4-3 win. The game-winning tally came on the power play for the Black Bears. Jennie Gallo (Castlegar, British Columbia) and Chloe Tinkler (Wabash, Newfoundland) each assisted on the game-winner.
Boston College finished the game with a 33-22 edge in shots on goal. The Black Beras were 2-for-7 on the power play, while Boston College was 1-for-4.
Maine goalie Brittany Ott made 30 saves in goal. She improves to 9-13-4 on the season. Schaus stopped 18 shots for the Eagles. She falls to 19-4-3.
