Maine Falls to Notre Dame, 87-78

NOTRE DAME, Ind.-- The University of Maine men's basketball team fell to Notre Dame tonight by a score of 87-78. The decision evens the Black Bears' record to 3-3 while Notre Dame improves to 6-4 with the win. The game saw 15 lead changes while the score was tied seven times.
Gerald McLemore (San Diego, Calif.) had a game high 27 points on the night while Justin Edwards (Whitby, Ontario) netted 20 and Alasdair Fraser (Falkirk, Scotland) picked up 17 points. McLemore went 11-16 from the field while shooting 2-2 from the line and 3-6 from three-point territory. Edwards shot 9-19 while draining a three pointer and going 1-1 from the line. Fraser shot 8-13, dominating the first half and helping the Black Bears stay within three at the half, by a score of 44-41.
During the second half, McLemore netted 16 of his 27 points. Edwards netted 11 points in the second half. Edwards also grabbed six rebounds during the game. Fraser was able to come down with seven rebounds.
The Black Bears will travel to San Diego for a game on Saturday against the University of San Diego. The game has a start time of 9 p.m. eastern and 6 p.m. pacific.
