ORONO, Maine – Justin Edwards (Whitby, Ontario) scored a game-high 22 points and Gerald McLemore (San Diego, Calif.) added 20 as the University of Maine men's basketball team defeated Holy Cross 72-60 on Sunday afternoon at the Alfond Arena. With the win, Maine is now 2-1 on the year while Holy Cross falls to 2-4.
Maine had a one-point lead at 55-54 with 9:26 left, but a 12-to-2 run fueled by five points each from Edwards and Andrew Rogers (Philadelphia, Pa.) propelled the Black Bears to the win.
Maine fell behind by as many as 13 with 8:37 left in the first half, and was down 29-17 with 5:29 left. However, McLemore scored 10 points in a 14-to-2 Black Bear run to end the half to tie the game at 31 at intermission.

The Crusaders cut the lead to three on several occasions, and the lead was one before the Black Bears went on the 12-to-2 run capped by a nice one-handed dunk by Edwards.
