Ott Picks Up Second Shutout as Black Bears Blank Wildcats, 3-0

DURHAM, N.H.--The University of Maine women's hockey team picked up a 3-0 shutout victory over conference rival University of New Hampshire Friday night. With the win, the Black Bears improve their record to 9-5-4 overall and 4-3-1 in Hockey East play. The loss drops the Wildcats to 4-9-2 and to 0-5-1 in Hockey East play. Brittany Dougherty (Chesterfield, Mich.), Myriam Croussette (Baie-Comeau, Quebec), and Tori Pasquariello (Mississauga, Ontario) all found the back of the net for Maine.
Brittany Dougherty started the scoring when she carried the puck up the right wing and blasted a slap-shot that beat UNH goalie Moe Bradley high above her blocker for a 1-0 lead. Dougherty picked up the goal during shorthanded play and now brings her season total to 10. Myriam Croussette grabbed the second goal of the game for Maine also during shorthanded play. Wildcat goalie Moe Bradley made the save on Croussette's initial shot, however Croussette found her rebound and managed to put in the back of the net for a 2-0 Maine lead. Assisting her on the play was Brittany Dougherty, her eighth assist of the season, and the goal gives Croussette 10 this season. Black Bear goalie Brittany Ott (St. Clair Shores, Mich.) made a few key saves during the period to preserve the 2-0 lead for the Black Bears through one period of play.
Late in the second period, Tori Pasquariello struck for the Black Bears for a 3-0 lead. Pasquariello was fed the puck from Missy Denk (Poplar Grove, Ill.) for her eighth goal of the season while Denk earned her fourth assist of the season. The score would remain at 3-0 for the duration of the second period.
In the third, Brittany Dougherty nearly grabbed her second goal of the game when she rung a shot off the post. Dougherty was given the puck directly off a face-off to setup the play. Brittany Ott continued to be dominate between the pipes for the Black Bears and would stop the 10 shots she faced through the third period, helping Maine to a 3-0 victory.
Brittany Ott tallied 32 saves on the night for her second shutout of the season and the sixth of her career. The win improves her season record to 6-4-2. Moe Bradley saved 18 of the 21 shots she faced on the night. With the decision, her season record is now 0-1-0. Maine went 0-for-3 on the power play while UNH was 0-for-6 with the advantage.
The Black Bears will return to action next Saturday, December 3, when they host No. 4 Boston College. The puck will drop at 7 p.m. at Alfond Arena.
