ORONO, Maine – Mike Allison (Lynden, Ontario) notched a double-double to lead the University of Maine men's basketball team to a 91-45 win over Fisher in an exhibition game on Sunday afternoon.
Maine got off to a quick start, opening the game on an 11-to-2 run capped by an Andrew Rogers (Philadelphia, Pa.) trifecta.
The Black Bears expanded the lead to 25-12 on a layup by Xavier Pollard (Bronx, N.Y.) midway through the first half, and would hit a three-pointer moments later to give the Black Bears a 32-14 lead.
With five minutes left in the half, Justin Edwards (Whitby, Ontario) stole the ball and would get it back with a nice pass from Rogers for a layup as the teams traded baskets the rest of the way before halftime with Maine taking a 46-28 lead.
Allison was ferocious in the first half, grabbing 10 rebounds to go with seven points while Edwards added nine points.
In the second half, the Black Bears played suffocating defense in the first 10 minutes and would build a 69-39 lead with just over eight minutes left with Gerald McLemore (San Diego, Calif.) scoring eight points in the stretch.
Maine finished the game on a 22-to-6 run to finish the game while locking down on defense.
Allison finished with 15 points and 16 rebounds while McLemore had 14. Edwards finished with 16 points, three assists and an emphatic block against the backboard.
Maine continues exhibition play on Nov. 5 against the University of Ottawa.
