Six Black Bears Garner All-CAA Honors

ORONO, Maine--University of Maine football standouts Derek Buttles, Jerron McMillian, Derek Session, Chris Howley, Steven Barker and Donte Dennis have been named to the CAA All-Conference Teams. Buttles and McMillian were named to the All-CAA Second team while Session, Howley, Barker and Dennis were named to the Third Team. Barker and Dennis were named All-CAA for the second-consecutive season.
Buttles, a junior tight end from Pike, N.Y., played in all 11 games and made 27 catches for 291 yards. He also made the game-tying touchdown grab against #14 New Hampshire. Maine would go on to win the game in overtime.
McMillian, a junior safety from Hillside, N.J., started all 11 games and ranked 10th in the conference in passes defended with eight and 14th in tackles among defensive backs with 58.
Session, a junior wide receiver from Baltimore Md., played in all 11 contests and led the team with 50 receptions. He ranked sixth in the conference in receptions per game with 4.5 and was ninth in receiving yards per game with 52.5.
Howley, a sophomore from Runnemede, N.J., started all 11 games at right guard for the Black Bears. He anchored an offensive line that gave up a league-low 12 sacks in 11 games while also helping the Black Bears pass for nearly 200 yards per game.
Barker, a senior from Teaneck, N.J., was named to the Third Team for the second time and the first time at kick returner. He averaged 24.0 yards per kickoff return, including a long of 64 yards. A defensive back, he also logged 38 tackles and four pass break ups.
Dennis, a junior linebacker from Rahway, N.J., was named to the All-CAA Third Team for the second-consecutive season as he led the Black Bears and ranked sixth in the conference with 108 tackles, including 3.0 tackles-for-loss. He also had four pass break ups on the year.
