Brittany Ott Named WHEA Defensive Player of the Week

WAKEFIELD, Mass. -- Brittany Ott (St. Clair Shores, Mich.) has
been named this week's Women's Hockey East Association
Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the association on
Monday. It is the second time this season Ott has been honored with
the Defensive Player of the Week award.
Ott set the school-record in Saturday's game against #3
Mercyhurst as she made 69 total saves. Her 69 stops broke the
school record that was previously held by Amanda Cronin who made 66
stops against Brown University in 1999. Ott made 34 saves in the
second period alone in Saturday's contest.
On Sunday, Ott came back with another strong showing in net as she
made 45 saves including 22 stops while Mercyhurst skated with a man
advantage, shutting down the Mercyhurst power play on 12
opportunities.
The Black Bears return to action on Friday, Oct. 15 when they
battle Quinnipiac University. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00
p.m.
