University of Maine Sports Hall of Fame
Peter Kostacopoulos lettered in football, basketball and baseball at the University of Maine. He captained both the football and basketball teams. In football, Peter played both center and quarterback and was named All-Maine Conference in 1955. In basketball he led the team in rebounds as a sophomore and was either first or second in scoring in each of his three playing years. He was also named All-Maine Conference in 1955-56. Kostacopoulos played catcher in baseball. Following his career at Maine, Peter coached at Bowdoin and Wesleyan University in Connecticut. He coached 28 years at Wesleyan and won more than 475 games. He led Weslyan to the NCAA III National Championship game in 1994. He was also a two-time district coach of the year.
