University of Maine Sports Hall of Fame
Paul Kariya led the University of Maine hockey team to its first NCAA National Championship in 1993. He had a national record 100 point season in 1992-93 and became the first freshman in history to win the Hobey Baker Memorial Award. He was named Hockey East Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and was a first team All-American. He played for the silver medal winning Canadian Olympic team in 1994. Following his career at Maine he went to the Anaheim Mighty Ducks for nine seasons, the Colorado Avalanche for two, Nashville Predators for two and played for the St. Louis Blues for three seasons.
