Mike Buck was the best quarterback to ever lead a University of Maine football team. At the time of induction he held 23 Maine passing records. Among his marks were most touchdowns and passing yards in a game, season and career. In 1987 and 1989 he was named Yankee Conference Offensive Player of the Year while leading Maine to a share of the Yankee Conference title and NCAA Tournament appearances. He was also a two-time All-Yankee Conference selection as well as a Dean's List student. Following his career at Maine, Buck was drafted in the sixth round by the New Orleans Saints where he played for three seasons. He also played one season for Arizona.
