Julie Woodcock held more New England swimming records than any other Maine swimmer, male or female, in history. Prior to her graduation in 1979 she held school records in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and individual medley events as well as in four relays. In four years at Maine she never lost a race in a dual meet or a New England Championship, winning 16 New England titles. In the 1979 New England Championships she took seven first places, five of them individually and two in relays. The University of Maine women's swim program won its first New England title in that year.
