Joe Ferris was selected as the Most Valuable Player in the 1964 College Baseball World Series. As a pitcher he posted victories over Seton Hall and the University of Southern California, and a save against Arizona State. He competed in the series despite a cast which protected a broken left wrist. Joe still holds the school record for the best career winning percentage and best season winning percentage going 9-0 in 1964. Following graduation Joe had a tryout with the Philadelphia Phillies.
