John Huard was one of the best football players to graduate from the University of Maine. He was not only a Little All-American selection but was also named to the All-New England, All-ECAC and All-Yankee Conference teams as a junior and senior. He is remembered as a fearsome linebacker who set three school records - most tackles in a season, most tackles in a game and the longest pass interception return of 95 yards. Following graduation, Huard was a fifth-round draft choice of the Denver Broncos. In addition to playing four years with the Broncos, Huard played with the New Orleans Sainst and the Montreal Alouettes. He returned to Maine as the offensive line coach from 1974-1975. Huard served as Head Coach of Acadia University in Novia Scotia from 1979-1983 and Special Teams Coach of the Chicago Blitz from 1983-84.
