University of Maine Sports Hall of Fame
Joe Hamlin played football, basketball and baseball at the University of Maine in the late 1930's. He was a three year All-Maine end in football and received All-America honorable mention in 1937. He was a center fielder on the baseball team and a center forward on the basketball team. He was inducted into the Maine Sports Hall of Fame in 1994. Hamlin enjoyed a distinguished 30-year career in the Army beginning with World War II. He retired as a full colonel in 1971.
