Jean-Yves Roy excelled for the University of Maine hockey team from 1989 through 1992. He played in 124 games and scored a school record 108 goals and 95 assists for 203 points, which ranked fifth all-time at the time of induction. His 46 games played as a freshman was tied for the Maine record for games played in a season at the time of induction. He holds the record for game winning goals at 19. He led Maine to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances and one Frozen Four appearance. In 1990 he was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team, Hockey East All-Tournament Team, All-New England and All-American. In 1991 he was named All-New England, All-Hockey East, named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team, an All-American and Hobey Baker Finalist. In 1992, Roy wa named All-Hockey East, All-New England, All-American and Hobey Baker Finalist. He also earned a silver medal with the Canadian Olympic Team.
