Jamie Cassidy was a member of the basketball team from 1997 through 2000 and ranked third in scoring with 2,380 points and rebounds with 983 upon completion of her career at Maine. She had her number retired in January of 2004. She was a member of the Black Bear team that defeated Stanford in the NCAA Tournament in 1999. That year, Cassidy was named ECAC and America East Player of the Year. She was a four-time All-America East choice, America East Rookie of the Year in 1997 and was a WBCA/Kodak District I All-American in 1999. She ws drafted by the Miami Sol of the WNBA. She also played professionally in Germany and coached at Salem High School in New Hampshire.
