Jim Stephenson was a three-year letterwinner for the Black Bear basketball team. He finished his carer as the all-time leader in scoring average at 22.7 points per game. His 23.8 scoring average in 1968-69 ranked second on the list, and his 1,518 points ranked sixth at the time of induction. Stephenson still holds the University of Maine record for most points in a game with 54, field goals in a game with 22 and field goal attempts in a game with 43, all against Colby in 1969. His 624 field goals attempts in the 1967-68 season is also a standing record at the University of Maine.
