Dyer served as soccer coach and assistant athletic director at the University of Maine. He was head soccer coach at Maine from 1982-1992. His teams finished at or above .500 for 10-straight season, compiling a record of 95-74-20. He served as an assistant athletic director at Maine from 1993-2004 before becoming athletic director at Maine Maritime Academy from 2004-2010. Dyer was Chair of the NCAA I Men’s Soccer Committee and a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association Board of Directors. Four of his players became college head coaches.
