They won 60 percent of their Yankee Conference games, including four championships in 1951, 1952, 1961 and 1965. He compiled an 80-39-7 record, placing him second on the Yankee Conference All-Time win list at the time of induction. In 1965 he earned NCAA District I Coach of the Year honors while leading the Black Bears to an 8-2 record, the Lambert Cup and a Tangerine Bowl berth. Westy retired in 1966 to become the Athletic Director, and served in that role until 1982. In 1983 he was inducted into the National Association of Directors of Athletics Hall of Fame.
