University of Maine Sports Hall of Fame
Emily Ellis held 20 women's basketball records when she graduated in 1985. She was the fist University of Maine student-athlete to ever have a uniform number retired (#40). Ellis set an NCAA record for most free throws made at 26. A talented student-athlete, she earned the Maine Sports Hall of Fame Scholar Athlete Award in 1985. Ellis was a Dean's List student in seven of her eight semesters at Maine and she was the first Maine female athlete ever to compete professionally, playing basketball in Finland in 1985-86.
