Donald Sturgeon was a three-year starter during the most successful era in the University of Maine basketball history. An All-Yankee Conference and All-Maine choice, Sturgeon joins teammates Skip Chappelle, Larry Schiner and Wayne Champeon from the record shattering and nationally-ranked 19-4 team of 1959-60. He held the career record for rebounds when he graduated. He was an honorable mention Associated Press Little All-American. He was captain of Maine's 1960-61 squad that went 18-5.
