Favor was also a Maine State Champion and All-Conference selection, before earning the opportunity to compete in the 1936 Olympics. He finished sixth at the Olympics, giving the U.S. its only points in that event. In 1940, his throws were among the best in the world, but he was unable to compete in the Olympics due to World War II. Favor also won championships in the discus and was a team captain in 1934.
