Dave Cloutier was an All-Yankee Conference and All-Maine running back for the University of Maine. Cloutier tied a Maine record with 159 rushing yards in a 1959 game versus Bates College. Dave led the Black Bears in scoring in 1959 and 1961, rushing yardage in 1959 and was second in rushing yardage in 1960 and was second in pass receiving in 1961. In 1961 he received the Harold Westerman Most Valuable Player Award for the Black Bears. Following Maine he was drafted by the Buffalo Bills. In 1964 he played for the Boston Patriots as a free safety and punt returner. He started in the American Football Conference Championship game against Buffalo at Fenway Park.
