Carolyn Bryden was a four-year letter winner on the swim team and captained the 1981-82 squad. She led the team to a 25-8 record over her four years. Bryden won the 50, 100, 200 and 500 freestyle races at the New England Championships twice, something nobody else has accomplished even once. Upon graduation, she held three school records that stood for 17 years. Bryden won the Kay Fromer Award presented annually to the senior swimmer with the greatest number of career points in New England Championship competition.
