Archer Grover

Archer Grover held University of Maine track records in six different events and captained the 1899 team. He was New England Champion and set a meet record in the discus in 1899 and 1900. Grover was also a state champion in the discus in 1898 (set record) and 1899, shot put in 1899 (set record), and hammer in 1898 and 1899. He also set marks in the 100-yard dash, 120-yard hurdles, and the long jump. Grover was a member of the University fculty for 29 years, leaving in 1929. He also served as a faculty respresenative to the Athletic Board from 1918-27. In 1954 he received the University of Maine Alumni Association Black Bear Award.
