University of Maine Sports Hall of Fame
Amy Vachon was the catalyst for the 1998-99 team that upset Stanford, 60-58, in the NCAA tournament. She led her team in assists, and into the NCAA tournament, all four years with the Black Bears and is UMaine’s overwhelming season and career assists leader. She was team captain her final two years, earned All-America East honors both seasons, and was named to the conference all-tournament team as a junior. Off-court, she was a member of the All-Maine Women Honor Society and a Magna Cum Laude graduate. At the time of induction into the Hall of Fame, she had returned to UMaine and was coach of the women’s basketball team.
