Women's Basketball announces 2025-26 promotional dates

ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine women's basketball team has introduced its 2025-26 promotional schedule with several fun, interactive events and themes planned for the season!

 

Dec. 1 vs. Boston University - Sock Drive, presented by Marden's

The Black Bears will join forces with Marden's Surplus and Salvage for a sock drive. Fans are asked to bring socks to the game and distribute them in bins located in the lobby area. Socks collected will go to support local organizations in need. 

 

Dec. 7 vs. Rhode Island  – Warmth Drive

The women's basketball team joins forces with UMaine Golden Key to help support the annual warmth drive. Fans attending the game are asked to donate new or gently used winter apparel to keep local children warm this winter season. All donations will be distributed to local elementary and middle schools. Items to be donated may include hats, mittens, gloves, scarves, and warm socks.

 

Jan. 10 vs. NJIT  – Bananas Cub Club Game, presented by Bangor Savings Bank

Welcome Bananas Cub Club members! In the annual Cub Club Game, all current Cub Club members are eligible for a free ticket to attend the game, while supplies last! All Cub Club members will be invited to the court postgame for an autograph session and the chance to take a photo with your favorite Black Bears! Jan. 15 vs. Vermont  – Military Appreciation Game / Rally Towel Giveaway

The Black Bears will host their annual Military Appreciation Game, presented by General Dynamics Bath Iron Works. All current and former military members and their families are eligible to request free tickets to the game. Contact um.tickets@maine.edu or 207-581-BEAR for more information. The game also marks Maine's annual rally towel giveaway! Be there early to make sure to collect this year's rally towel.

 

Jan. 31 vs. UMass Lowell – Alumnae Day & Fan Appreciation

The Black Bears invite back all alumnae to be recognized on the annual Alumnae Day!. This year, the Black Bears will be honoring the 35th anniversary of the 1991 NAC championship team. In 1991, the Black Bears finished the season 20-8 overall, 9-1 in the conference, and defeated Vermont to earn the conference title. The date will also mark fan appreciation day in which all fans in attendance will have the chance to win a variety of prizes throughout the game!

 

Feb. 7 vs. Bryant – National Girls & Women in Sports Celebration, presented by Bangor Savings Bank

In what has now grown to an annual mark on the calendar, the Black Bears will hold their National Girls & Women in Sports Celebration. The pregame interactive sports fair, which will take place in the New Balance Field House, will include special giveaways, games, and in-game activities to support and celebrate women in sport.

 

Feb. 21 vs. New Hampshire – Play4Kay Pink Game / Border Battle, presented by Buffalo Wild Wings

The Black Bears will wear their special, commemorative pink jerseys on the annual Play4Kay Pink Game in a game in which Maine will raise money to support cancer research and raise awareness towards cancer support.

 

Feb. 26 vs. UAlbany – Stein Night & Faculty Appreciation 

The first 100 students through the gates will receive a commemorative women's basketball stein, as part of the season-long 'Stein Night' giveaway. The Black Bears will also honor faculty and staff for an appreciation of all they do to support our student-athletes.

 

Feb. 28 vs. Binghamton – Senior Day

Maine Athletics will honor the women's basketball seniors for all of their efforts and dedication to the program.

 

Tickets to all home games remain available and can be purchased by visiting GoBlackBears.com/tickets, by phone at 207-581-BEAR, or in-person at the Alfond Arena box office. All UMaine students are eligible for a free ticket to all home games.
