ORONO - Redshirt junior Alex McKenney was named the America East's Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon, the first honor of his career and Maine's six conference weekly honor of the season. 

"Dominant" is the only word to describe McKenney's outing against NJIT on Saturday afternoon, as the righty twirled seven innings allowing just two singles and retiring the last eight batters he faced in a row. The one run allowed was unearned, and McKenney struck out three against just a single walk. 

Alex McKenney now ranks first in the conference and 28th in the nation with a 5.18 hits allowed per nine innings average and sits third in the conference with a 0.99 WHIP.
