Durham, N.H. -- The University of Maine women's track and field team placed eighth at the 2017 America East Championships, held at the University of New Hampshire. The Black Bears tallied 39 points during the championship competition.
Grace MacLean won the heptathlon with 4,928 points. The following is a list of MacLean's individual finishes in the heptathlon events:
- 100m hurdles (1st - 14.37)
- 200m (1st - 25.62)
- 800m (3rd - 2:23.35)
- High jump (1st - 1.66m (5-05.25)
- Long jump (2nd - 5.39m (17-08.25)
- Shot put (5th - 9.36m (30-08.50)
- Javelin (2nd - 27.47m (90.01)
Ariel Clachar placed third in the long jump with a mark of 5.36m (17-07.00) while Ashley Donohue placed third in the shotput with a throw of 13.28m (43.07-00). Donohue was 11th in the discus with a toss of 36.74m (120.06).
Tiffany Tanner took home sixth place in the 800m with a time of 2:13.16.
Kayla Marquis was 11th in the pole vault, clearing 3.10m (10-02.00) while Kayla Greenwalt placed fifth in the javelin (36.05m - 178.03).
Lucia Guarnier rounded out the field event finalists with an 11th place showing in the triple jump (10.87m, 36-00.00).
In the relay events, Maine's team of Clachar,
Lauren Magnuson,
Teal Jackson and
Cassidy Hill took home fifth in the 4x100m with a time of 48.29. Magnuson, Jackson,
Elisabeth Redwood and
Brittany Torchia placed seventh in the 4x400 event at 3:56.23. The Black Bear team of Tanner,
Naomi Holzhauer,
Tiana Bibb and
Haley Lawrence crossed the line at 9:37.66 in the 4x800 event, good for 8th place.
