Women's Hockey Honored in First Round of Hockey East Yearly Awards

Tereza Vanisova, Brooke Stacey honored as preliminary awards announced.

ORONO, Maine - On Wednesday morning, the Hockey East announced the first round of yearly awards, with Tereza Vanisova being named a member of the Pro-Ambitions All-Rookie Team, and Brooke Stacey named as the runner up for the Best Defensive Forward award.

Tereza Vanisova (Strakonice, Czech Republic) was one of the top-scoring Freshman in Hockey East this season, as she finishes with a team-high 28 points (tied with Stacey) leading the team in goals with 16. Of those 16 goals, four came on the power play, and two were game winners. Tereza notched a hat trick against BU on November 12th. She missed action on most of Maine's games in February, as she played on the Czech Republic National Women's Hockey Team in Olympic Qualifiers.

Brooke Stacey (Kahnawake, Quebec) was the runner up for the Best Defensive Forward award finishing the season with a team high +13; she was tied with Vanisova for the most points on the team this season with 28, with 15 goals and 13 assists, and 31 blocked shots on the season, which was the third highest on the team, the most of any forward.

The next round of awards, including Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Coach of the Year, and All-Conference First/Second teams will be announced Friday evening at the Hockey East Banquet.
