Stewart Sweeps America East Field Hockey Awards

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- University of Maine freshman field hockey standout Holly Stewart (North Vancouver, British Columbia) has been named the America East Player and Rookie of the Week. Stewart tallied three goals and two assists in a pair of Maine victories over the weekend.

Stewart, who tallied eight-points over the weekend, helped Maine to road wins over Fairfield and Hofstra. The freshman forward opened the weekend with a seven-point effort in the win over America East foe Fairfield. Stewart picked up her second career hat trick in the win over the Stags. Stewart notched the game-winner against Fairfield as well as assisting on Kelly Newton's (Vancouver, British Columbia) goal in the 42nd minute. On Sunday, Stewart assisted on Zoe Adkins' (Coquitlam, British Columbia) game-winning goal against Hofstra, completing her eight-point weekend. Stewart has now racked up 11 goal and six assists for 28 points on the year.

This is the second America East Rookie of the Week award for Stewart as she also collected the honor on Sept. 26.

Maine returns to action when it travels to battle America East foe New Hampshire on Friday, Oct. 21 at 3 p.m.
