ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine football program will be hosting a pair of '1-Day Football Camps' throughout the summer of 2013. Camps will take place on June 28 at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland, Maine from 5-8 PM and July 25 at Hill Stadium at Thornton Academy in Saco, Maine from 5-8 PM.
The 1-Day Football Camps will be held in southern Maine. These camps give prospective student-athletes the opportunity to showcase their talents on the football field. Technique, fundamentals, and overall athletic ability will be evaluated by the Maine coaching staff. The camp is open to young men from 9th grade to rising 12th grade seniors in high school. No equipment other than football cleats are needed.
Coach Cosgrove, Head Football Coach of Maine Football, will oversee the camp. Instruction will be given by the Maine coaching staff as well as assistance from other college coaches throughout New England. Parents are welcome to attend practice if they choose to.
Campers will receive instruction at both an offensive and defensive position. Positions on the offensive side of the ball include; QB, RB, WR, TE, and OL. On the defensive side of the ball positions will include DB, LB, and DL. There will also be a special teams segment in which everyone is encouraged to participate in.
Players will perform the exact same drills that our players perform on a weekly basis. They will be instructed and asked to perform position specific drills, a skill combine, and an agility circuit. All levels of football experience are encouraged to attend.
