Football Has Five Named to All-CAA Teams
ORONO, Maine – University of Maine football standouts Chris Howley, Justin Perillo, Donte Dennis, Darlos James and Josh Spearin have been named to the 2012 All-CAA teams. Howley, Perillo and Dennis were named to the first team while James and Spearin were named to the second team.
Howley, a senior offensive lineman from Runnemede, N.J. and 2011 All-CAA first team selection, helped anchor a line that gave up the third-least sacks in the CAA. The line also paved the way for a top-10 rusher (Rickey Stevens, 819 yards) and a quarterback in Marcus Wasilewski who ranked second in the conference with 214.9 yards through the air per game.
Dennis, a senior linebacker from Rahway, N.J. and 2009 and 2010 All-CAA third team selection, became the first Black Bear since former NFL standout Stephen Cooper to lead the team in tackles for three seasons after making 86 stops this season. His 86 tackles put him fourth in the CAA, and added 3.0 tackles-for-loss and a pair of pass break-ups along with two fumble recoveries.
