Orono, Maine -- University of Maine women's ice hockey is happy to announce the addition of forward Sierra Semmel for the 2016-2017 season.
Semmel, from Dedham, Maine, played for the Washington Pride this past season. Her team won the JWHL championship and Semmel finished the season with 13 goals and 13 assists for 26 points.
Before playing for the Pride, Semmel attended the Loomis Chaffee school in Connecticut. While at Loomis, her hockey team made the New England championship tournament during both her junior and senior seasons.
"Sierra plays with energy, determination and heart every shift," said head coach Richard Reichenbach. "She is physical and hard to move around. We are excited to see her play and know that she will create havoc in front of the net and in the corners of the Alfond. Sierra grew up locally and knows what it means to be a Black Bear and what is going to be expected of her every day she puts on the Maine jersey."
