The University of Maine Men's Cross Country team finished second overall with 46 points at the America East Cross Country Championships in Baltimore, Maryland on Saturday Oct. 29, as the team fell to Stony Brook by just one point.
The men finished with an overall time of 2:05:24 and an average individual finishing time of 25:05.
Senior standout Jesse Orach was the individual champion in the race, crossing the line first with a time of 24:35.3. Orach is Maine's first cross country champion since 2011 and it's only the fifth time that a Black Bear has won the men's America East Championship. Orach was also honored the Elite 17 award.Â
The Black Bears had six runners finish in the top-20. Levi Frye finished eighth with a time of 25:05.2. Aaron Willingham finished 11th at 25:13.0 followed by Jacob Johns who finished 12th with a time of 25:13.8.
Stony Brook won the men's team crown, nipping the Black Bears by just one point with a score of 45.
The Black Bears are back in action on Nov. 11 at Franklin Park when they take part in the NCAA qualifier.
